Salvia Africana-caerulea (Bloubomsalie) Essential Oil

Known locally as Bloubomsalie, this essential oil is steam distilled from sustainably wild-harvested Salvia africana-caerulea, an indigenous fynbos shrub growing naturally on the sandstone slopes of the Cederberg Mountains. Never commercially cultivated on the farm, each harvest is gathered by hand from carefully managed wild populations thriving in their natural mountain habitat.

Traditionally valued for its intensely aromatic leaves and long history of medicinal use, Bloubomsalie is distilled in small batches over traditional wood fires to produce a 100% pure, unblended, organic essential oil. Its bold herbal fragrance is layered with fresh, resinous and camphoraceous notes, making it one of the most powerfully aromatic oils in our collection.

Unlike commercially cultivated sage, wild Cederberg Bloubomsalie produces a far smaller yield of essential oil. This naturally low yield results in an exceptionally concentrated oil, prized for its remarkable aromatic depth, richness and complexity.
