Stoebe Capitata (Slangbos) Essential Oil

Known locally as Slangbos, this essential oil is steam distilled from sustainably wild-harvested Stoebe capitata, a resilient fynbos shrub growing naturally in the Cederberg Mountains of South Africa. Its distinctive woolly, silver-grey foliage carpets the mountain slopes, flourishing particularly in the years following a natural fire, when fresh new growth emerges.

Harvested by hand and distilled in small batches over traditional wood fires, this 100% pure, unblended, organic essential oil reveals a crisp, penetrating aroma with herbaceous, green and gently astringent notes. Slangbos can only be distilled during its brief flush of fresh growth in February, when the aromatic compounds are at their finest. Even then, the plant yields only a very small amount of essential oil, making each distillation exceptionally limited.
