Known locally as Groen Slangbos, this essential oil is steam distilled from sustainably wild-harvested plants growing on the high-altitude slopes of the Cederberg Mountains. Thriving in the harsh mountain environment, this resilient fynbos species is harvested by hand from carefully managed wild populations.

Distilled in small batches over traditional wood fires, Groen Slangbos presents one of the most technically demanding distillations in our collection. Unlike most essential oils, its aromatic compounds naturally form a delicate wax rather than a free-flowing oil. Throughout the distillation process, the condenser and separator must be maintained at precisely the right temperature—warm enough to prevent the wax from solidifying, yet cool enough to allow the aromatic compounds to separate from the steam. This careful balance requires patience, experience and constant attention.

The naturally low yield, together with the complexity of the distillation, means that Groen Slangbos Essential Oil is produced in exceptionally small quantities.
